FoHer Digital Hub advances digital inclusion for young women in marginalized regions of Kenya by offering free, safe, and future-focused digital learning. We equip emerging female leaders from vunerable backgrounds with essential technology skills, leadership capacity, and access to education and employment pathways.
The Challenges We Address
Young women in marginalized Kenyan communities continue to face persistent barriers to digital access and digital rights:
Digital Access Gaps
- Rural computer access remains as low as 7.3%.
- Only 32.2% of women nationally use the internet.
Affordability & Infrastructure Barriers
- High data costs limit consistent online access.
- Many regions lack reliable connectivity and electricity.
Digital Safety Risks
Women face cyber harassment, identity theft, and online gender-based violence, with limited support systems for reporting or protection.
Gender Norms & Underrepresentation
Societal expectations and lack of mentorship discourage women from pursuing ICT roles or leadership positions.
Limited Pathways to Opportunity
Even with digital skills, many young women have little guidance on accessing online work, higher education, or innovation ecosystems.
Programs
FoHer Digital Hub delivers a structured, supportive, and holistic training model designed to equip young women with both technical and leadership capabilities.
1. Basic Digital Skills Literacy
Training on essential computer skills, productivity tools, online communication, and foundational digital fluency.
2. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Training
Introductory modules on AI concepts, digital innovation, and emerging technology fields.
3. Digital Safety & Online Protection
Education on cyber hygiene, identity protection, digital rights, and mechanisms for reporting online abuse.
4. Leadership Development
Confidence building, critical thinking, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and mentorship guidance.
